At 12pm on Wednesday 14th October in the Houses of Parliament, a very special event happened. Not Prime Minister’s Question time but the Year 6 visit by the Target Party! The Target Party won our school General Election in May on a platform of aiming for the best. Their award was a visit to Parliament, seeing and learning the wonderful heritage of British democracy first-hand. During the trip, they not only stood in the House of Lords but visited the very room where not only Winston Churchill laid in state but Henry VIII used as a tennis court. A tennis ball was lodged in the ceiling and only found during recent renovations!
The trip was rounded off by a meeting with the school’s Member of Parliament Louise Ellman and the children had plenty of questions to ask about Parliament and what it is like to work in such a magnificent building.
