Summer 2- 2018

Rules

Within year 2, children will be able to talk about their own experience and feelings about rules in their life. Children will be able to say what they wonder about the importance of keeping rules for themselves and for others. Children will be able to ask and respond to questions about their own and others’ experiences and feelings of the importance of rules.

Summer 1- 2018

Lent/Easter

We will talk about what helps a person to choose what is right and good and how does each day offer opportunities for doing good?  We will also be listening to scriptures from the Bible and say prayers together. 

 

Pentecost 

We will learn about the importance and responsibility of passing on messages in daily life. We will be able to ask and respond to questions about our own and others experiences and feelings of both passing and receiving messages.

Spring 2 2018:

We will be learning about The Eucharist. The word Eucharist meaning ‘thanksgiving’. The Eucharist is another name for the Mass. The parish family gathers to give thanks to God, most of all for the gift of Jesus, his Son.  Children will be able to recognise the story of  the Last Supper and to recognise signs and symbols, different words and phrases used in the Eucharist (at Mass) to give thanks. They will be able to recognise that Catholics go to Mass to remember what Jesus did at the Last Supper and give thanks to God.  Children will be able to retell the story of the Last Supper and to use words and phrases from the Eucharist (Mass) that show how Catholics give thanks to God.

Spring 1 2018:

We will be looking at books and scripture. The scriptures are the treasured Word of God for the Jewish and Christian communities. The books used by the Christian community record and hand on its story. The lectionary which is used at Mass contains the scriptures used by the community throughout the year.

Children will be able to talk about their experience and feelings about the different books that are used at home and school. They will be able to say what they wonder about the importance of books in their lives and will be able to ask and respond to questions about their own and others’ experience and feeling of the different books that are used at home and school. Within this topic, children will be able ask questions about what they and others wonder about the need for books and their importance in our lives and realise that some questions are difficult to answer.

Autumn 2 2017:

In Religious Education the topic for this half-term will be: Signs and symbols for a Baptism and Preparations 

We are just finishing our Baptism topic. Within this topic we have looked at a range of signs and symbols within a Baptism and what they represent.

 

The children will learn about the events around the birth of Jesus and describe the symbols of Advent.

You can help  your child have a better understanding of this topic by: talking about how we prepare for Christmas and for Jesus’ birthday.
