UNICEF - Rights Respecting School Award

As a school we have registered a commitment with UNICEF to become a Rights Respecting School.  We are keen to take this award on as we think it will promote tolerance among the community, raise awareness of issues, create greater aspiration and help our children to cope in, what is becoming, a stress-filled, multi-cultural, technological world.

To achieve the award we need to consider a variety of things:

  • Below is a summary of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child - the plan is to focus on one of the rights across the school each week.
  • A baseline audit will be carried out with children and parents to establish awareness of rights.
  • We will be asking for volunteers for a steering group( staff, children, governors, parents). This group will then be set up to look at how we can promote tolerance and develop towards becoming a Right Respecting School.
  • If any one is interested in joining the steering group, please contact Mrs Heraty
