Statement of Intent for History
Our history curriculum is designed to equip pupils with the knowledge and understanding of places, people, and significant events through time. Pupils will be given the opportunity to think critically, analyse evidence, examine arguments, develop judgements, and understand different perspectives. This will be undertaken through four core pillars: historical enquiry, historical knowledge, historical concepts, and historical findings.
Implementation of History Curriculum
Every classroom is equipped with a large-scale historical timeline with subject specific vocabulary displayed along with key facts. All learning starts by revisiting prior knowledge through various multiple-choice quizzes. This will support children to recall previous learning and make connections. The curriculum is designed to build upon pupils’ prior knowledge and skills each year, allowing them to develop a well-rounded historical understanding.
