This half term (spring 2 2020), children will study the topic of Seasonal Change (Winter to Spring).  They will:

  • Observe changes across the four seasons.
  • Observe and describe weather associated with the seasons and how day length varies.

This work will follow on from prior learning in autumn.  Children will compare their findings across the seasons.

Working scientifically, across Year 1, children will be:

  • Asking simple questions and recognising that they can be answered in different ways.
  • Observing closely, using simple equipment.
  • Performing simple tests.
  • Identifying and classifying.
  • Using their observations and ideas to suggest answers to questions.
  • Gathering and recording data to help in answering questions.

The children will learn about the scientist Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit (1686-1736), who developed a method of measuring temperature.
