People and their Communities

Using our mapping skills to find locations in our playground.

Autumn 1 2021: Our Local Area. The children have been looking around their classroom and creating maps of what they see.

Y1: Animals and their habitats. The children learnt about a swallow’s migration south from the UK to South Africa. They plotted the journey on different maps. πŸ‡¬πŸ‡§πŸŒπŸ‡ΏπŸ‡¦

Y1 Geography: The children were researching the habitats of whales in the continent of Oceania today. Some of the children were also using playdough to create the shape of the continents we have worked on so far. πŸŒπŸ—ΊπŸ˜€#trinitygeography

Animals and their Habitats Summer 1

People and their Communities. What a fun lesson we had today. We researched locations of countries, cities, landmarks, coastlines and located the capital city of England. We cut out pictures of landmarks around London and placed them onto a map. 🌍 πŸ—Ί πŸ‘ŒπŸΌ #trinitygeography #blendedlearning

Y1 Geography-Blended learning. People and their Communities: Today the children have been researching the Amazon Rainforest and came up with lots of interesting facts. We also found it on a map of South America and talked about the coastline and did the forest reach the coast! 🌍 🦜 πŸ’ 🐍 🐊

Remote and school learning -People and their Communities- We have been learning about our local beaches and coastlines.

We were hoping to go on a field trip but due to Covid restrictions we kept our field trip to our school grounds. After our walk, we made maps and added symbols which we had noticed. πŸŒπŸŒ²πŸŒ³β›”οΈπŸ“΅ β›ͺ️

Digimaps. We have been observing our school grounds and the landmarks around our local area. We found our school on Digimaps and mapped our walk around the grounds. 🌍🌳

New Cohort Autumn 2020- Our Local Area. The children have been looking at their classroom environment and drawing maps. We then went on a little β€˜Trinity field trip,’ due to Covid restrictions, around our school. We found lots of thing which we don’t usually notice playing outside.

Home Learning Summer 2020: Here are some of the children’s tweets about a place they have chosen to research in any part of the world. 🌍 https://twitter.com/thetrinityl5/status/1243548194983870465?s=11

We have enjoyed looking at what life would be like in the rainforest and comparing it to the lives we lead in Liverpool. πŸ—ΊπŸŒ²πŸŒŽ

We have really enjoyed looking at maps, globes and google earth to identify different places and symbols. We were really good at finding different symbols and saying what they were representing!
